I don’t usually do posts like this, but I thought I’d do a little round up of my most used lip products over the last few weeks. I usually switch and swap my make up quite regularly – constantly using new things and forgetting the rest. But these 5 lip sticks and butters are the ones I keep going back to. They’re not necessarily the best lip products around, but they’re definitely the ones to have to hand for one reason or another and I seem to be drawn to them all. This little collection doesn’t include the balms and butters I have in my bag either, which amounts to quite the collection; but every girl does this right? Nothing wrong with some mini hoarding now and again! Anyway….
Stila Long Wear Lip Colour in Peony: I bought this from TK Maxx for £7.99 in a little pack alongside two other Stila products, it’s not a colour I’d usually go for, as I’m not particularly drawn to neutral tones of lipstick. This is such a creamy and moisturising consistency though and so easy to wear either in the day or for a night out. It’s really long lasting too for a light tone. I find it can easily last for around 3-4 hours and even when it wears off my lips still feel lovely and soft.
Bloom Lip Plump in Kitty Royale: A recent purchase reduced to £1.99 in my local Superdrug, the Bloom range is one I’m forever eyeing up. It’s a little bit pricey though but for £1.99 I can handle it. This is a lovely delicate reddish colour which reminds me a lot of the Revlon Lip Butters but without that weird gritty texture. It’s not sticky for a gloss and doesn’t dry lips out. I find I’m using this more often in the morning as part of my make up routine, as it’s great to banish that pesky ‘foundation’ effect on the lips.
Look Beauty Double Hit Lip in Pink Punch: This is definitely more of a ‘going out’ colour as it’s the brightest pink pop ever. I was going to actually include the Look Beauty Loud Lips in Cherry Bomb as it’s my favourite red shade ever. But this one is a very close second and I thought it’d be nice to write about this considering Look Beauty are donating 50p from every sale of their Pink coloured make up to the ‘Look Good Feel Better’ charity. I’ve been a fan of the Double Hit Lip’s since they hit the shelves and find them a really good lipstick to have, they have a lipstick at one end and a gloss at the other with incredibly pigmented colour and are great value for money at £8.
Revlon Lip Butter Sweet Tart: I won this on the Revlon Sweet Treat facebook sweepstake. I was never really interested in the Revlon Lip Butters despite the hype, but when I got one I was pretty happy to finally try one. I must say, I don’t *get* all the fuss or why everyone went so crazy about them BUT I do use this very regularly. It’s a nice product to use in the morning, like the Bloom Lip Plump, to deminish the foundation lip effect. But I dislike the texture slightly as it’s not smooth or silky and tends to boarder on being a little gritty. Saying that though, it’s a good one to keep in your bag for out and about as it’s not a bold enough colour to get all around your mouth thus creating a clown face. I don’t I’d buy another one at the RRP of £7.99, as I think you can find cheaper products that do better things, but saying that, I do use it a lot?!
Korres Wild Rose Lip Butter: I absolutely love this! It was a unexpected winner, as the Revlon Lip Butters lowered my expectations of anything with ‘butter’ on so much. But I have found that every Lip Butter I have tried has been completely different! The Korres Lip Butter reminds me more of a hardish gel in consistency and instantly softens lips. The wild rose one adds a quick pop of pinky red to your lips and is overall just the ideal lip product, for £7 I couldn’t praise it more really. I really want to try the other ones in the range and maybe even the stick ones as I must admit the pot can get a little messy. Oh and also don’t stroke your cat which has patches of white fur after you apply this with your finger, unless you want her to have pink blobs on her nose (whoops).
Like I said, these ones aren’t the best lip products I own, or the best on the high street. They just seem to be the ones I find using the most. Although since planning this post I’ve got my mitts on some more Oriflame Satin Core lip colours, which are the best lipsticks in the world ever. That’s no exaggeration either! I love them! But they deserve a blog post all of their own due to their greatness. Which lip products do you find you use the most? I think I use these most frequently as they’re not as precious as my favourites. Does that even make sense?!
