Tanya Burr Basics

Ok, so admittedly I am extremely late to the party with the Tanya Burr Make Up goodness... In fact, I will also admit that I had no idea who Tanya was until quite recently too (after that Covent Garden meet up craziness). Yes, I know, what an awful awful blogger I am!? After reading all about Tanya though, it's literally been blowing my mind how successful she is. I mean, seriously. She's 5 years younger than me (Although I look about 10 years younger than her) and she's like, a true blogger/vlogger success story. I'm in two minds as to whether or not I feel disheartened or hopeful about where blogging can take your life. On one hand, it seems that all the *successful* bloggers such as Tanya, Zoella and the other Barry Big Time's are all the 'industry' requires for now, like there's not a need for any more of this type of online persona because the ones which exist are ticking every box required. But on the other hand it's very hopeful that bloggers are gaining more of a 'celebrity' status, which means the public, brands and fellow bloggers are becoming ever more appreciative about bloggers personal spaces on the internet. I know outright that my blog and myself will never be anywhere near as big as these 'celebrity' bloggers, and to be honest I don't really want it to be. I'm happy to float along as I am for now, because I enjoy it and it's my hobby not my career. BUT I DIGRESS. What was I even on about again? Oh yeah... Tanya Burr's Make Up range. I guess this is where Tanya stands out from the other bloggers who have made it 'big' lately. I mean, to have your own make up range, with your own face on, stocked in a high street shop like Superdrug? It's literally living the beauty blogger dream.

Sooooo.... I have got my grubby little paws on one nail varnish and one lipgloss from the Tanya Burr Make Up Range. I'm not generally a fan of lip gloss, but the Tanya Burr lip gloss in shade 'First Date' I have found to be nothing like other lipglosses I have tried. The consistency is much creamier and smells absolutely delicious, like strawberries and cream or something! I'm wondering if this is the reason for the rather short 'shelf life' of the product though. The little symbol on the packaging states 3M - which means after 3 months you should pretty much get rid. But regardless of that, the high street price can compensate for this shortness of life anyway, if you're the type of person who usually spends a great deal more on make up products. the lipgloss is a lovely delicate shade of light pink, which as you can see is incredibly subtle on the lips. It's smooth and creamy without a heavy feeling or sticky finish. There's nothing worse than a sticky lipgloss (I'm looking at you Soap and Glory Motherpucker) especially when it's windy and your hair is drawn to it like some kind of freakin' magnetic. I can confirm that my hair did not stick to this, no matter how hard the wind blew. It also doesn't dry out my lips like glosses tend to do, it's almost hydrating like a balm, but not at the same time.

Secondly we have the Tanya Burr Nail Polish in 'Little Duck'. You couldn't get a nail varnish shade name more ideal for a Stokey, as people round here seem to be exclusively called duck.... Eh up duck.. Ow at duck... And other duck related Stoke sayings... I'm a sucker for any light blue shade of nail varnish anyway, so to find this beautiful duck egg blue polish pretty much makes my finger nail life complete. Usually with lighter shades of polish I find you need 3 coats to reach full opaqueness, but with Tanya Burr's nail varnish you can reach a full pop of colour with 2. The formula is really thick, which I have found can be a little more difficult to 'paint on' without making a bit of a mess, but alas when you perfect the art of applying it you are left with a smooth streak free finish which lasts. Usually when polishes are a bit thicker I find they peel off very easily, but this one does not and it lasted me a good 3 days before there was the slight hint of wear.

So overall, some pretty impressive products. I guess it pays off having a beauty blogger formulating products which they know beauty bloggers will be blogging about!

  2. I quite liked this range, although I didn't know about the 3months shelf life thing!?! Huh, that's a shame as most products from Boots or Superdrug lasts around 6-12months :/. I have the shade Aurora and Bright and early :D x

  3. I don't think I'll be buying any of her stuff, I'm not a big fan of her or her crew to be honest! Just you wait until I have my own lipstick line in Japan, they'll last longer than 3 months ;)

  5. The lip gloss only last 3 months?? That's a bit ridiculous to be honest. So you'd probably have to wear it pretty much constantly to try and use as much of it up as possible if you intend to throw it away after 3 months. I'm not a lip gloss fan anyway so I don't think I'll be trying one of these

    1. Apparently its due to the sweet scent and sweeter smelling lip products have similar shelf life's. Bit of a shame but is use it longer anyway because I don't like sticking to rules.
