November Rain

''Cause nothin' lasts forever, even cold November rain...'' - Guns n Roses//November Rain.

The launch of The Library of Fragrance in the UK is something I've been excited about for quite some time! It was about 2 years ago on Twitter when I first got a 'sniff' of their existence. A few people I followed were having a discussion about their infamous Play Doh scent and my obsession to track them down over here begun. It goes without saying that when the company emailed a few people to fill in a questionnaire about the fragrances, which hinted at a launch here, I got very excited indeed. I recently received one of the best selling Library of Fragrance scents; Rain and couldn't wait to crack it out and get me a-spriztin'.

Rain is stand out scent for me amongst the various other Library of Fragrance perfumes you can find on the shelf in Boots. It's one of those where you read the name and immediately think to yourself 'RAIN DOESN'T REALLY SMELL' but as soon as you take a whiff you think, well, of rain. It's not the weird pondy rain you can smell sometimes on those dark and drizzly days. It's more of a crisp, shower in the summer like scent. It kind of smells a bit like fresh plants. Not flowers. Plants. But the night kind. Like when you're walking through the fields and snap some thick stems of the various green foliage you find. I suppose you have to smell it to see what I mean, as describing perfumes is never that easy really. Either way, I can tell you that it's a gloriously fresh scent, which lasts on the skin for a good few hours before it fades away.

The great thing about the Library of Fragrance collection is the bottles contain a singular scent. This means that you can combine the scents to create your own bespoke fragrance, by spraying on two or three of your favourite ones and tailor your daily perfume to suit your mood. For example, a fragrance which smelt of 'Black Pepper' alone, may not be that desirable to some, but combine this with a scent such as 'Amber' you'll be well on your way to a more affordable and feminine version of a classic Molton Brown fragrance. I love the Black Peppercorn Molton Brown products, but as they're more of a masculine scent I don't find myself overly willing to wear the fragrance itself on a daily basis, you know - a blokes name is confusing enough for the general public. Never mind smelling like a boy too.

There are obviously some bottles of perfume from the range which you'd buy more for the novelty value, or as a jokey gift for someone (perhaps for Christmas, eh eh?). Fragrances such as Dirt, Pizza and Mushroom would probably not be the first ones on people's wish list for a daily scent, but I can't help but be intrigued by them! But for every novelty scent there seems to be a deliciously divine one in contrast, such as Honeydew Melon, Cucumber and even Baby Powder. But which one would you choose? There's so many to choose from!
