Nicky Clarke DesiRED Rapid Heat Roller System

Nicky Clarke DesiRED Rapid Heat Roller System

It seems I have an obsession with trying to find the best way to curl my hair lately. From curling tongues, to heat free methods using those doughnut hair bun things, if there's a method of curling my hair I'm sure to have tried it.  One thing I haven't tried before it a heated roller system, but it's something which has always intrigued me!

The Nicky Clarke DesiRED Rapid Heat Roller System is a little different to the other heated roller products on the market. Instead of heating a number of rollers in one go, you simply heat one at a time and pop it in your hair as you go! Snazzy, huh? In the box you get a base unit, which you stick the heaters on to heat them, the rollers themselves (6 in 3 different sizes) and the clips to hold them in your hair whilst they work their magic.

Heating the rollers couldn't be simpler. Just press the on button so the light goes green, put the roller on the little nubbin and the light flashes red. Within a few seconds the light stops flashing and your roller is heated, ready to use! At first I thought this would make the whole curling process a right pain in the ass, but actually, it takes no longer than around 10 minutes to put all 6 rollers in your hair. Just ensure that you put the next roller on ready as soon as you remove the last. This means that when you've securely placed the previous roller in, the next is ready to go!

Although you only get 6 rollers altogether, and they're 3 different sizes, I still manage to do a full head of loose curls in one go. Depending on your hair thickness and length, you might need a few more. Although bearing in mind half of my hair is extensions, you probably wouldn't actually need any more. Even if you do though, you can just do half a head at a time, as it only takes about 10 minutes for the rollers to cool and set. You secure the rollers in to your hair with the pins provided in the box, which are all colour coded to the rollers too.

I've only had the heated roller set for a few days now, so still practising the best way to get the curls I want in my hair. But below is typical result I'm getting - which I'm pretty pleased with! These heated curlers are a lot quicker than curling tongues and more convenient in the mornings as I can do my make up whilst they cool down. Remember, when using heat on your hair, it's the cooling process which 'sets' the hair; so don't be tempted to take them out too soon!

  4. Wow - your hair looks amazing, I like the loose curl, but its also made your hair volumised! I use my GHD's to curl my hair, and it takes me about 30 mins, so finding a product that does the same in 10 mins is an absolute bonus. Fab post, will have to go check these out now :)
