Urban Decay On The Run Palette

Urban Decay On The Run Palette

Oh, it's really not often that I succumb to a blogger hype or 'high end' make up brand, but when I spotted the Urban Decay On The Run Palette reduced in Debenhams recently, I just couldn't resist picking it up.

Granted, the reduction was only from £37 to £25 (which is still beyond my personal budget for anything in life), but with moving house and ALL my money going on that I just felt like I needed to actually buy something for me, which was a bit frivolous to tide me over. The reason it was reduced was because there was a slight chip in the blusher, which as you can see, doesn't detract from the palette itself!

Considering I bought this on a whim, I've actually used it pretty much every day since I got it! It's brilliant for taking on little adventures away too. As the palette contains a bit of everything you need, you can create either a subtle day time look, or more dramatic evening face with the bits and bobs within.

The eyeshadows within the Urban Decay On The Run Palette are the following: Dive (metallic rose with a golden micro-shimmer), Fix (soft taupe matte), Resist (medium metallic taupe), Dare (medium brown matte), Stun (metallic bronze with light gold micro-shimmer) and 5050 (cool bisque satin). I used 'Dive' on a daily basis at the moment - it's an amazing shade for either wearing alone, or as a base for the darker colours such as 'Stun' which looks great contrasting in the fold of your eyelid, blended in.

There's a full size Urban Decay Naked Lip Gloss in the shade 'Sesso' also included, which retails for £14.50 on it's own - making the palette overall great value for money. I thought I wouldn't use this at all, considering I'm not really all that in to lip gloss as a product. But every morning I slick this on before I leave the house and it adds a delicate pinkish tint to my lips and it feels really nice! Instantly moisturising and despite the finish it does last surprisingly long for a gloss.

The 4/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in 'Stag' is a rich, brown shade, which despite being pencil; lives up to its name! It glides on effortlessly, even after applying the powder formula eyeshadow. Perfect for a nice grungey, smoky eye look, it's actually swaying me more and more towards giving pencil eyeliners a bit more time in my life (after avoiding them for years!)

The most disappointing product in the set is actually the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara. It just doesn't really... do anything? It's like putting just... Nothing on my lashes. I don't know if this is a dudd or it's just not for me. But I guess every make up palette out there has its negative products inside. The good definitely outweighs the bad though and even with the blusher being slightly more pink than I'd go for, it's still a brilliant option for me when blended with the bronzer.

Overall, the Urban Decay On The Run Palette is the perfect kit for using either at home or for little trips away! As I said, I'm surprised I've got so much use out of it already. The only other negative is the lack of brushes for application. I know some Urban Decay products have clever packaging which conceals the brush inside, so it would be great to see a new edition of this with some brushes included!
