Beauty Blog: Winter Skin Saviours

Whilst there’s something charming winter months, they doesn’t half mess with your skin.

We’re not even in full winter swing yet, and my skin is so crusty it looks like an extra from the Great British Bake Off.

Central heating inside, plus wind and cold rain outside… it equals a recipe for skin disaster.

Here are some of my top Winter Skin Saviours:

Hydrating Sheet Masks.

Sheet masks are great.

Whilst they make you look like something from a horror movie, they do wonders for a quick boost of hydration.

Locking all the wonderful ingredients in under a layer of fabric, they are perfect for these winter months.

Especially if you have a cold/flu like I do right now! So soothing.

The KORIKA range of sheet masks at Notino have loads of different options for a range of skin types.

The moistursing one with hylauronic acid is a particular favourite for my dehydrated skin.

Energising Facial Oils

I never really thought about how dull my skin looked when I was cold-stricken.

Until this week.

Every time I’ve looked in the mirror it seems like the life has left my face!

The Kiehls Daily Reviving Concentrate has been in my skincare collection for a while. I’ve not actually reached for it until now though.

I’m not sure if it’s the Ginger Root, Sunflower or Tamanu that’s doing it, but every morning it’s helping to make me look a bit more energising and alive.

All About The Eyes

The eyes are the window to the soul.

And in winter months that soul can look like it’s been sucked out of you.

I’ve never really adopted a skincare routine around my eyes – which shows actually. But in times of crisis, such as flu-ridden winter months, I start to get it together a little bit.

One brand I am absolutely loving for eye-related skincare at the moment is Charlotte Tilbury.

Her magic eye rescue cream is amazing at delivering a boost of hydration at night.

And the Magic Away Concealer is perfect for long-lasting day time bright eyes. It honestly makes the under-eye area so smooth looking and adds an actual pop of luminosity.

And  Finally, Looking After the Lips…

I think everyone suffers from dry lips in winter time.

No matter how much water you drink, you’re gonna get dry lips at some point.

Whilst Vaseline PROTECTS your lips, it doesn’t actually repair or moisturise them that much. And honestly? I despise Vaseline as a product anyway.

My go-to brand for dry and damaged lips is Blistex. The little blue pot is a daily wonder.

For a bit more of a lip ‘treat’ I also have the Lanolips banana balm in my bag. It smells JUST like McDonald’s Banana Milkshake and gives a lovely subtle shine.

That pretty much covers the bases when it comes to winter skin care for me. Of course, there are times when the above don’t work. Especially when you’ve had a cold and your nose develops that sore, horrible crust. Yum.

Do you have any winter skin tips?
