Mikado Daim

Breathe a sigh of relief as I post a food related entry! So sorry it’s been beauty, beauty, make up, beauty, make up lately. I’ve been binge eating pizza mainly and not really foraging in the supermarkets too much. I did happen to come by some of these new Daim variety Mikado this week though, so thought I’d tell you a little bit about them.
Mikado are a pretty similar snack to Pocky, which I like to describe as kind of the Japanese equivalent to Kit Kat’s. You know how Kit Kats are like, the classic break time snack in England? Well I have images in my mind of Pocky being the mid morning snack over there. I may be completely wrong, but that’s just how I like to think about it, OK! Basically, they’re kind of pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate. I like them because they’re probably the closest thing to Flipz that we can get on the supermarket shelves these days. (why did they ever discontinue those?!)
I did have massively high hopes for these I’ll admit. I absolutely love Daim bars and the Daim variety of Milka chocolate. But these, hmm they’re just a bit MEH. I can take them or leave them. They’re great to curb a sweet craving now and again but there’s just something missing and I can’t put my finger on it. It might just be because they’re so thin and they can’t fit a lot of the Daim-ness on, I don’t know, but I was a bit disappointed. They’re just OK. They cost about £1.20 from Asda. They’re not offensive, they’re quite tasty. They just don’t have a certain UMPH I was expecting from such a promising combination!
