Summer Scents

As you may have gathered by now, I am the budget QUEEN (or princess, y’know, don’t wanna hype myself too much). This budget attitude applies to all sectors of my life. Not because I am just immensely cheap but because I feel a greater sense of satisfaction for something when I know it didn’t cost me a months wages, and also the fact you can buy more things if they’re cheaper! People say ‘if you buy cheap, you buy twice’ well, that’s fine by me because I love buying. I know a lot of people think when it comes to fragrances and perfumes you HAVE to buy the more expensive ones as they last longer… or something like that? Is this the actual reason? I’m unsure. I’ve had more expensive perfumes before; I’ve just polished off Paul Smith Rose and have a bottle of Vera Wang Princess, somewhere, amongst many more. But I realised today that the only perfumes I actually wear on a daily basis are these ones.

I also realised that all of these scents are so affordable! They’re definitely my smell-track to the summer. I’ll also point out I was a little apprehensive to write about perfumes as well, I mean, you can’t smell them through the screen and I can’t swatch the scent for you in smell-o-vision either, but I will try my darnedest to describe them the best I can.

First up is the most expensive of the collection…. Eau de Soap and Glory which retails for around £15 for 50ml, but is regularly on offer as 3 for 2 at Boots. It’s the typical Soap and Glory Scent, if you’ve smelt The Righteous Butter or y’know, any of their products you can imagine what this smells like. The scent lasts all day and although initially a fairly strong odour, it settles to a lovely floral vanillery smell.

The next one is my hand bag favourite. Sorry the picture isn’t up to much, but I had to include it. It’s Marks and Spencers ‘Butterfly’. It cost a mere £3.50 for a 7ml bottle. It’s great size for just whacking in your bag and is once again is a nice long lasting scent. I think it’s supposed to be a dupe for Daisy by Marc Jacobs from the look of the bigger bottles of this. I think the best way I can describe this is fruity and….green?

The Body Shop Love Etc… perfume is a new one to my collection. I have always been very off put by The Body Shop perfumes as when I was younger every one that I tried, although initially delicious, would settle to a really rancid musk smell. Musk is a smell that triggers migraines for me, so you can imagine why I didn’t like that! This however, is such a lovely light scent with no musk! Woo hoo! Every time I have this on people compliment it. And once again, you can see a trend here that it’s another fruity, floral, lovely smell! I picked this up for around £8 for a 50ml bottle in a gift set with the body lotion and shower gel from The Body Shop outlet at Cheshire Oaks.

Finally, we have the latest perfume I purchased in the form of ‘Suddenly Madam Glamour’ from Lidl. This was a bargain at £3.99 for a 50ml bottle. As I said in my previous blog post about it, it’s been renowned for being a dupe of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. And it smells soooo good. I really disliked it at first and bought it for the sake of it! But it’s grown on me so much and it’s a much more mature scent that the others I own and am used to. It’s lovely.
What’s the fragrance to your summer?
