Customise Your Face

FashionistA are one of those brands I’ve noticed around for a while, and have been dying to try. The FasionistA black gel eyeliner has been one of those products which keep appearing on my blog reading lists, but alas, I live in Stoke and until recently my local Superdrug has been a little behind with stocking the FashionistA make up range. But NOW they have the whole range in for me to longingly stare at (but not afford to buy). One of the things I was eyeing up was the FashionistA Custom Design Palette*. So as you can imagine, I was super excited to be able to try one when the postman popped it through my door recently.

The idea is so simple, yet so effective. Simply buy your Empty FashionistA Custom Palette  and then choose 4 products to fill it up with. There’s an impressive selection of colours in eyeshadows and bronzes/blushers to choose from. It’s perfect for someone like me, who whenever I get a palette set of make up, use 2 products to death then completely disregard the 30 other products in it. The individual products are really well packaged too though so you don’t have to buy the palette itself to give them a go either. It’s almost a shame to throw away all the empty black cases once they’ve been transferred over. This is where I’m racking my brain trying to think of another use for them so I don’t have to throw them away! (craft graduate/hoarder problems)

I was sent 2 bronzers, 1 blusher and an eyeshadow. The most stunning looking one is ‘Couture’ (top in the below image) which is a lovely baked bronzer with streaks of gold, brown and silver running through it. It’s got a but more sparkle in it than I usually would go for, but it’s a nice bronzer to add a bit of a highlight on the cheekbones I find. I also want to particularly precious with it as it’s so beautiful! The Tokyo eyeshadow (below couture) is a pretty basic shade. I won’t use it as an eyeshadow but will be using it as a eye brow filler as it’s the perfect tone for me on days when I don’t want them to look too bold.
‘Rome’ (top right) is the second bronzer I have in my little custom set, it’s a very subtle colour with a slightly pink hue to it. For someone pale like me this is the perfect ‘bronzer’ as I always find I look like I’ve smeared poop on my cheeks with regular bronzers. And my all time favourite item in the set is the ‘London’ blusher (bottom right) I’ve already made a big dent in it as it’s my new favourite blusher ever. It’s not anything like my other blushers in terms of colour as this is a slightly coral tone, which can come across a little but on the orange side. You’re probably thinking that sounds hideous, but with my red hair it compliments my skin tone so much and I’d never have even thought about trying a blusher in this colour before.
At the moment the custom palette ‘fillers’ are on 4 for £10 in Superdrug, which is a bargain as they retail for £4 each. The palette itself will set you back £5 but once you have it, you have it for LIFE. Like I said, this is the PERFECT idea for someone like me, the amount of sets of make up I have where one thing is empty and I can’t purchase the individual product to refill it or just use on it’s own is ridiculous! Thanks FashionistA I’m your new biggest fan.

This is a really good idea – I hate it when one product is empty and you need to buy a whole new palette to get it again! x

I got myself a FashionistA palette just after they came out and was really impressed with it. It's still my go to over palette, I love how you can just pop them in and out and change them as and when you need to.

Your blog is fantastic! I love the idea of custom palettes especially as I never end up using all the dodgy blues/purples that sneak there way into the ready made ones…

Love these custom palettes! I also only eve use one or two bits from ready-made palettes so this is right up my street. I really, really love that second bronzer too. I'm a pale gal in need some some shimmer.

What a good idea! Like you I tend to just use a couple of colours and have the rest just hanging around, so this might be something I'll go and have a look at.

For the empty black cases, maybe fill them lipstick? Or lipbalm? Usually when you come to the end of a lipstick you can never get the bototm bit out so you could spoon it out and compact it into one of the cases.
