Macadamia Flawless

The Macadamia Natural Oil brand of hair care is certainly one of the most hyped ranges around planet blog right now, and I must say, after I tried the Macadamia Oil Shampoo and Moisturising Rinse a few months ago, I have found it to be the most extraordinary stuff my hair has ever seen. Since then, I have been eager to try more from the range! As you can imagine, I was extra excited when I was sent the new Macadamia Flawless* to try. It’s a really strange product and definitely unlike anything I have tried before. Macadamia Flawless boasts to cleanse, condition, refine and perfect hair all in one product whilst also reducing drying time and perfecting your hair over all. I didn’t know what to expect apart from amazing things….. But does it live up to that expectation?
hair care review

As I’d read absolutely nothing about Macadamia Flawless before I received it I was initially confused about what it actually was! My first thought was that it was a post wash treatment, maybe an oil, but the bottle size was far too generous for that. So then I thought it must be some kind of dry shampoo… But then realised it couldn’t be that either. After reading the instructions on the back of the bottle, I was still kind of non the wiser. I’ll quote it word for word, so you know what I mean:

”Directions: Lightly emulsify 1 to 2 pumps between hands. Apply to the scalp area and gently massage the product through to the ends, spreading Flawless throughout the hair. Add a splash of water to assist the spreading it needed. Leave for up to 5 minutes and then rinse thoroughly”

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I still didn’t really know whether or not you apply it to wet hair, or dry hair, or after a proper wash or what. I think the fact that I hadn’t read anything about the product previously was the main contributor to all this confusion though. After finally reading the press release that accompanied Macadamia Flawless, it actually became clear that it was to be applied to wet hair. Huzzah! I’m sorry if that was a really roundabout way to demonstrate my ignorance but I wanted to include it in the review, as despite it probably making me look a bit simple, I don’t want others to be as confused as I was. I’m unsure how the product will be packaged for sale, so it may come in a box that explains a little bit better, so don’t let my little lapse into stupidity put you off! Anyway, once that was confirmed, I washed my hair. Not as normal though. The texture of Macadamia Flawless is like something I’ve never used before. It’s a really dense mousse cream to best describe it. It doesn’t foam up through the hair like a shampoo would, so it feels really weird. Almost as though you’re not really cleaning your hair at all. As it’s a mousse like substance it’s really easy to distribute it through your hair and I found only one pump was needed to cover a full head. I left it on for 5 minutes to insure the goodness was being absorbed and then rinsed it out….. To reveal the most silky smooth hair I have ever seen or felt!

I think a product like this will take some getting used to as it’s so different to the traditional way of shampoo and conditioning your hair, and that’s exactly what they seem to have been aiming for when developing Flawless. It feels like a styling product but it cleanses away all the dirt and grease whilst also conditioning. A really kind of fancy 2 in 1 conditioner I guess! I would usually deem something like this as a bit of a gimmick, but after experiencing the results for myself I am really impressed. I’m unsure how long one 250ml bottle would last for and according the press release the RRP is £25.75 which when you think about it, isn’t too bad when you consider this is an all in one product. If I added up the shampoo, conditioner and post wash treatments I use now it would probably amount to around £20, and with this you don’t need to use any kind of serum afterwards, my hair did dry quicker than usual too therefore meaning less blow drying time and your hair remains healthier in the long run. It is an absolute saviour for dry and damaged hair! What do you think of this? I’m sure people who have used the Macadamia range before will be dying to get their mitts on a bottle!

*UPDATE* I just noticed the Macadamia Flawless Set is on Hairtrade.com for £20.75 which includes a comb and healing oil! http://www.hairtrade.com/macadamia-flawless-set-p-4019.html
