Tea and Cake M’Dear?

I have some breaking news to share with you today…. The wait is over… For I, Terri Lowe…. FINALLY HAVE THE INTERNET AT HOME. It’s been a hard month of waiting around, but yesterday the technician came round (at 8.10am because clearly, he knew I couldn’t wait a second longer) and installed my new connection. Yippyyyyy. So now we have a back log of content I would like to catch up on. What better place to start than with the thing that has kept me company of an evening whilst I’ve been sat alone sans the internet…. I present to you, my new best friend….. CAKE. And lot’s of it.
tea and cake

I was sent an absolutely tremendous little ‘care package’ as I like to call it from a wonderful Yorkshire based company called Thomas the Baker.  I must admit, when I was first offered this opportunity to review I was kind of hoping I’d receive a few pork pies and sausage rolls, as I’m much more of a savoury person than sweet. But after trying some of this deliciousness I may actually have changed my mind. I didn’t have high hopes of chowing through the whole box, but seems I have managed it. From the delicious Fruit and Nut Flapjack to the zesty Lemon Drizzle Cake. I’d like to say that I’ve shared these things, but I haven’t. I did however realise after I’d divulged these two items that it was a bit excessive to have eaten such a big amount of cakey goodness to myself in the space of a week. I was hoping to have a little blogging tea party when Victoria and Tereza came to Stoke the other week too, but due to unforeseen circumstances (*cough* getting very drunk) we didn’t have the stomach for tea and cake over that particular weekend.  I did however, take the Yorkshire Brack and Gem Cookies in to work and they were literally scoffed down by myself and my colleagues within an hour or so. The cookies were lovely, like massive jammy dodgers, but more tasty!!

The Thomas the Baker website is a treasure trove of delicious goodness and like I said it’s totally changed my opinion. My absolute favourite thing from the selection was the Millionaires Shortbread. I always find Millionaires Shortbread to be too crumbly, dry and generally a non starter for me. This one is so buttery, creamy, gooey and moreish though! It’s the best thing I’ve had in my mouth for a while I tell thee. I’ve never been ‘into’ the moistness level of cakes before, but I’m telling you, these are some of the moistest cakes I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating.
If you fancy treating yo’ self to some tasty cakey goodness you can get 10% off on the Thomas The Baker website by using the code BLOGGER10 until the 17th of March. What a whopping whoosh.
