I feel like my blog is currently sponsored by Victoria’s Vintage,
but it’s not, I assure. Tight bugger doesn’t even give me free cakes or anything! But alas, today’s blog is all about her… again. Last week it was this thrifty gal’s birthday and she came to my place on Friday for a few drinks and a night out to the local land of indie joys The Sugarmill. I love that me and Victoria are now super good friends just from meeting each other blogging! In fact, her and Tereza from Cityscape Bliss
are the best pair of kittens I’ve met in a good while and here’s what I made Victoria for her birthday! I will admit, the little cats don’t look how they did IN MY HEAD, so that’s why there’s two of them, I thought a second one would look different, but turns out, it doesn’t at all and is just a mini kitty.
Because I’ve been so busy recently I didn’t really have time to do any more and perfect them or tidy them up properly, but I figured as long as there’s cats and cake I couldn’t go wrong. You wouldn’t believe it from these little creations but I do actually have a degree in Crafts! Haha. They’re stuffed with rice and so are quite heavy and fat, just like a cat should be, and I decided to pop on the front of the big on her little brand name ‘Victoria’s Vintage’. In the wrapped up thing it’s a lovely Emma Bridgewater half pint mug
with the hearts design on. I figured coming from Milton Keynes to see me now and again she should at least be able to take her own bit of Stoke on Trent back with her! The ‘wrapping’ is actually a tea towel with a lovely Cath Kidston-esque design on it, which is Victoria down to a T. Also note my beautiful new pastel pink stool
from Out There Interiors
which I am completely in love with! They have some amazing things on that website which I just want to fill my flat with, I think the French style of furniture
given a new lease of life with such lovely colours is my new interior obsession! Victoria’s presents looked so good on it I almost just kept them.
I also attempted to make her a ‘cake’. Ok… Not as cake as such and it looks lamer than I imagined, but I made a loads of chocolate pancakes and layered them up with Marshmallow Fluff and Butterscotch Chocolate Spread, finishing the top off with a handmade chocolate cat and some little gingerbread men! Apparently it tasted very good… But let’s face it, with those ingredients it couldn’t taste worse than it looked! Because my flat is so freakin’ warm all the goo started to ooze out which made it look even more, uhm, appetising.
In other news, I really want to get my flat sorted and do a flat tour on my blog at some point! I’ve been saying this since I’ve moved in but always struggle to find the time. I love little trinkets and an organised mess, but it seems these often turn in to a ridiculous mess which I can barely wade through. I was watching Kirstie Allsop’s Fill Your House for Free
the other night just thinking ‘yeah, already done that love’ because living alone I barely have any spare cash for luxury items and most is either thrifted, second hand or found for super cheap prices.
Would you be interested in peeking in to where I dwell? Probably not, right?
What do you think of Victoria’s present? They’re definitely ‘special’ I thought.
