I’m sure this isn’t even worth the introduction actually, as for many already the Kiehl’s range is a daily staple! But for me it’s a completely new set of products which have recently entered my life. I was invited to the Kiehl’s event in Manchester last week but unfortunately being in Stoke and working all hours I couldn’t make it! But alas, turns out they have the most super nice head office people in the world and they sent me a few things to try and get me going with the brand. Obviously this post is simply a first impressions based one and pretty much just a summery of what I’ve been sent and what I think so far! So if you’ve already used these products please let me know what you thought in the comments below and also if you went to the event send me the links as I really feel like I’ve missed out… Apparently they have a skeleton and everything.
So, if you’re in to your blogs you will have without a doubt seen the new Kiehl’s BB Cream doing the rounds. This is the first product I cracked out to try! With Vitamin C and SPF 50 it’s without a doubt got some super good ingredients in there. The colour match is pretty spot on for my pale complexion and it smooths on a charm. The smell is very ‘earthy’? Kind of like a herby smell, which reminds me a lot of something else I’ve tried recently, which for the life of me I can’t remember!! Whilst this BB Cream without a doubt is very good for your skin, I was a little disappointed by the coverage. I found it to be very light and which my skin being so spotty and such it doesn’t provide me personally with the coverage I’d like. I have been putting this on more as a primer really and popping a bit of Ginvera BB Cream over the troublesome bits. It’s a very good combination! Then I set it with the Look Beauty Mattify Me powder. I’ve only been using this for a few days, but already my skin does seem more supple so I’m hoping eventually it will help with texture and condition. The Kiehl’s Creme De Corps I haven’t tried yet as I’m currently giving that new Spray on Vaseline Moisturiser a whirl (which I accidentally sprayed on a pigeon too, I’ll see if I can find him to guest blog his opinion on that) but this boasts to improve your skin in 10 days of use, so it’ll be interesting to see how that one goes. I’ve used the Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 a few times now and it’s nicer than I expected, whilst it is a petroleum based lip balm, which I know a lot of beauty people turn their nose up at, it’s a good way to protect your lips in the erratic UK weather right now. Nothing dries my lips out more than when the weather goes from rain and cold to sun and heat, so instead of using a balm to rectify my dry lips it’s always going to be better to use a protecting product to stop them getting dry in the first place! It’s not as greasy and gross as something like Vaseline (which makes me vom a bit) and feels like it does moisturise at the same time.
The Midnight Recovery Concentrate and Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate are the only two skincare products I’ve tried so far and it’s already quite impressive! I don’t know why, but because of the colour of the packaging of the Midnight Recover Concentrate I had it stuck in my head it would be similar to the L’occitane Precious Cream which broke me out in terrible spots over night, so was going to avoid using it though, but then I used my brain and realised it was completely different stuff altogether. This is a lovely oil treatment which is packed full of skin loving ingredients. I did instagram a picture of these to see which I should use with my dry spotty complexion and everyone did say the Midnight Recovery Concentrate was the best one all round, so I’ve been using it nightly and love how smooth and supple my skin feels in the morning! I did give the Line Reducing Concentrate a try first and it felt really nice, but different to other potions and lotions I’ve tried before. It’s kind of goopy and sticky, but not at the same time. It’s a nice but different consistency which soaks in quickly and really feels like your skin is having a drink! Or maybe I’m just doing that thing in my head where I relate things to other things, so in this case because it’s got Vitamin C in I’m thinking of Orange juice… Who knows? The final Kiehl’s product I was sent to sample was the Ultra Facial Cream, which comes with a rather interesting back story about explorers and expeditions to Greenland. I think this is going to be a perfect winter skin saviour so avoiding opening it until then so I can keep my skin lovely and moisturised during the harsh cold months! Whether I can wait that long though I’m unsure, I’ll keep you updated.
I really am enjoying the honest product descriptions Kiehl’s pop on the packaging. For example the Lip Balm doesn’t claim miracles or lie to you, it’s black and white what it does and what it contains so that you can fathom your own decisions when purchasing the products. Like, how many lip balms say they ‘temporarily’ protect your lips? I can’t think of any off the top of my head… Where it could of just said it protects lips… Do you get what I’m saying? Probably not! Haha. I can’t wait to visit the store and check it all out in real life, the apothecary/old style pharmacy aesthetic is totally my bag!
Which Kiehl’s products have you tried before? Or are you like me and new to the brand?
