I can’t even… I won’t even… I just…. I…. JUST DON’T JUDGE ME OK?? I picked up the new MUA x 1 Direction lipstick and blusher
the other day in Superdrug and I am not only ashamed of this whole thing but actually surprised at just how good the quality of these 3 quid wonders actually is. I know right? Luckily there was a young chap at the checkout who clearly didn’t realise it was 1D branded make up
I was purchasing, so I saved a red face upon payment…. But when I got home the embarrassment has developed, as I’m actually using these things on a DAILY BASIS, like, in my actual life…
As you can see I had no intention to blog about these at all, as I have broken the blogging code and not photographed them before use! Eep! I heard that GASP you just made from beyond your keyboard, I’M SORRY, SOILED GOODS! I chose the coral shade of blusher as I don’t own a coral blusher and I figured I’d push the boat out. I had such low expectations and couldn’t try it in store due to lack of testers, but when I cracked it open I was pleasantly surprised. The formula is non sticky, and kind of applies with a matt finish. Usually a stick or cream blusher like this is rubbish over powder, but this one just works?! Like, really really well. Usually with cream blushers I need to apply them before powder as it develops some form of odd cloggy paste on my cheeks, but with this one I smooth across a line on my cheeks then blend in with a hard flat headed brush. It blends in so well and the colour turns out to be super lovely too – it’s not too orange and not too heavy. I was surprised that for a cream stick blusher the finish is fairly matt, other blushers I have like this are a bit sticky and gross. The colour is a little more vibrant than in my step-by-step pictures below, clearly I should of taken more time to capture this, but I had limited time in between hanging my head in shame at loving a One Direction endorsed product so much….
Secondly, we have the wonder which is the One Direction lipstick. I don’t even know what ‘boy’ this is as the colour was on the label which I peeled off straight away without looking. I think it’s… Liam? Is there even a Liam? Maybe I should be googling this before writing this blog post? But do I really want One Direction searches on my history? Life is so hard sometimes. Anyway, this is a really nice orangey-red shade and is so opaque and moisturising I simply love it. I’ve never used an MUA lipstick before so wasn’t expecting the world, but if they’re all as good as this I may have to give them a whirl! It’s really soft and easy to apply and lasts a good while. The only trouble is that I find the orangey undertones make my teeth look slightly yellow? Or maybe that’s in my head. Who cares when my lips look so good though, eh? The packaging *is* a little tacky and gross, but the product itself is very very nice.
I am enjoying these products a little more than I should for a girl in her late 20’s. Not being a 1D fan I don’t understand the hype around the actual branding/endorsement of the range, but when you push that to one side the products themselves are fantastic for only £3 a pop. I am quite intrigued by the lip balms in the range as they look like nice flavours, but I don’t know if I can bring myself to going to that particular stand in Superdrug
For reference as a base on my face (LONDON) I’ve been using the Witch Primer, Ginvera BB Cream, Look Beauty Mattify Me Powder, Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Pink Gold, Illamsqua Eye Liner and a mascara from the Pound shop (don’t ask).
Please tell me I’m not alone in loving the quality of them?! I’m pretty sure ‘Best Song Ever’ is pumping subliminal messages through the air waves to brain wash society in to liking their music and make up.
