Since last winter I’ve developed some kind of (un)healthy obsession with leather skirts. I would never even consider looking at them in the shops a few years ago, but you would not believe how practical they actually are! With my bottom half a good size bigger than my top half, I always found it difficult to wear skirts unless the top was tucked in or I wore a crop top with them; because whenever any top sat on my hips with a skirt on it would just ride up and I would be constantly pulling it down all day – or the opposite would happen and the skirt itself would ride up under the top, guhhhh there was no winning! But with (faux)leather skirts you don’t have that issue as much, as it reduces the fabric on fabric friction and my tops sit in place so much better. I have quite a collection of fake leather skirts, mainly from H&M as their range is always so good yet so cheap, I think my most expensive one is about £20. Despite having this extensive selection already though, I couldn’t help but choose out a real leather skirt
when Warehouse asked me if I’d like to feature a skirt off their website. Apart from shoes and bags I don’t even have a real leather jacket in my life, so to own a reaaaaaaalll leather skirt just makes my little wardrobe life complete. Although it’s a little ‘snug’ on the old top of the thighs, yet fits perfectly around my waist, that’s ok because leather *should* give a little, just like when you have a new pair of shoes (or so I hope). The A-line shape is perfect for my body type, so when it does give a little it should fit perfectly. It’s more rigid than the faux leather skirts I have, so I’m hoping it gets a little softer with more wear. I know people probably think a leather skirt during the day is a little dressed up, and there are so many answers on google on ‘how to wear a leather skirt’…. But I find them really easy to wear either in the day or at night, especially when the weather is colder (you don’t want to wear one in the summer in the day time, sweatsville: population – the lower half of your body).
I bought these boots the other day from Hidden Fashion and for £8.99 they were a good investment. The heel is just the right height for either wearing in the day or jazzing up for a night out and they have zips on the backs so you don’t have to faff about with the daft buckles every time you take them on and off. I think this yellow button up top is one of my favourite rediscoveries lately, I got it from TK Maxx about 5 years ago and never really wore it much, but this last 6 months or so it’s been my go-to garment for warmer days. As it is getting a little bit more chilly out, a quick un-tuck of the top and throw on of a Primark cardigan makes the whole outfit a bit more Autumnal, but without the cardi I’d still feel comfortable wearing just the skirt and the top on a night out. I’d like to call that style cas(ual) snazz(y).
