Music Blog: Slam Dunk 2019 First Announcements!

If you’re a fan of your pop punk festivals you will have no doubt seen the changes happening for Slam Dunk 2019.

Not only have Slam Dunk cancelled the Midlands leg of the festival, but they also have plans to move to a new home in Leeds for the 2019 shows.

Is this good news or bad, though? Only time will tell.

After experiencing both the Midlands and Leeds Slam Dunk Festivals, I must say – Leeds city centre was amazing in comparison to the NEC as a location.

If there’s one thing Leeds does well as a city, it’s bringing a proper community feel to things. And wth both Live and Leeds and Slam Dunk utilising bars, clubs and pop-up stages, it really is an awesome place for music fans.

Where is the new Slam Dunk Festival Location and on what dates?

SLAM DUNK FESTIVAL NORTH – SATURDAY 25TH MAY – TEMPLE NEWSAM PARK, LEEDS

SLAM DUNK FESTIVAL SOUTH – SUNDAY 26TH MAY – HATFIELD PARK, HATFIELD

Who is playing Slam Dunk 2019?

The first announcements have already been made for the festival. With All Time Low being headliner for both dates.

Other acts announced so far include: NOFX, New Found Glory, Mad Caddies and Silverstein.

Is this announcement the strongest? Not in my opinion. But let’s see what other pop punk whizz kids are announced in the next wave, eh?

With Slam Dunk Ticket costing around £60 is it worth going?

I’d say so actually.

It’s always a super friendly festival, with lots of fun to be had. Although I am sitting on the fence a little with this year’s line up.

However, with the new locations I think they’re definitely going to be pulling more out of the bag in the run up….

They better announce some decent acts seeing as they’ve put the ticket price up to £64!!! I paid £40 only a couple of years ago! So far not a single bad for my tiny emo heart :'(

I’m not sure what demographic they’re actually going for with it tbh? Definitely not my generation, but also not yours? Some weird in-between group that, to me, won’t fill the new venues?!
